Cornwall tourist attraction commissions hat trick of guidebooks from local printers

Cornwall tourist attraction commissions hat trick of guidebooks from local printers Top Cornish tourist attraction The Lost Gardens of Heligan has chosen local printers Francis Antony to produce thousands of vibrant guidebooks for the forthcoming season.

Earlier this year Francis Antony, based in St. Austell, printed The Lost Gardens of Heligan Wildlife guidebook to provide a more in depth guide for customers to use while visiting Heligan.

Now, the company has been commissioned to print a further two books.

The second book to hit The Lost Gardens of Heligan retail and online shop is ‘The Lost Gardens of Heligan Guidebook’. The newest guidebook consists of 76 colourful pages and will help readers identify the different areas around Heligan including the gardens and wider estate.

For the wildlife guidebook printed earlier this year all the photographs were taken on site at Heligan and there is information about each animal and insects’ habitat, life cycle and other information to accompany each image.

The third guidebook, ‘Heligan History - The Lost Gardens and The Lost Gardeners’ is still being researched and compiled but will include the exciting history The Lost Gardens have witnessed over many years.

Richard Hibbs, the Managing Director of Francis Antony said, “As a printing company it is always exciting to work on a colourful and fun project such as the guidebooks for Heligan. Each booklet we have printed for The Lost Gardens of Heligan is printed in full colour. We needed to make sure the pictures are very clear and crisp because they are close up and need to be of the highest of quality. Personally, I’m extremely proud of these pieces of work and the strong relationship we maintain with our clients.”

As well as being useful during the visit, the guidebooks also act as a memento or gift for visitors to keep and show their friends and family.

In line with the Lost Gardens’ environmental credentials, the guidebooks are printed using vegetable, rather than oil-based inks and the paper comes from well-managed forests with very low ECF (Elemental Chlorine-Free) Chlorine content.

Heligan’s Creative Director Candy Smit, said: “Heligan has enjoyed a great relationship with Francis Antony over some years; not only is their print and production quality to the highest standard but their attention to customer care is first class. We are difficult clients; but their design studio shows enduring patience in seeing each project to a successful conclusion for us. It is a great advantage for us to be able to use local suppliers, particularly for items which require management of ongoing supply and delivery at specific times.”

Francis Antony works with a wide range of clients printing everything from complex brochures, folders and books to business cards, letterheads and other stationery.

The company was started in 1946 by Leonard Hibbs, then his son Tony took over, and it is now run by Tony’s son Richard. They have continued through the years through their strong links with designers and businesses throughout the county.

The Guidebooks for The Lost Gardens of Heligan sell for £3.95 from the shop or online at www.heliganshop.com.
