Issued:03/03/2008A Cornish IT company has installed a hi-tech communications system to provide a Bodmin-based company with faster and cheaper links to its new office in Australia. Piran Technologies, based in Redruth, has helped Infoteam connect its offices in Bodmin, St Columb and Sydney, Australia by using Voice Over Internet Protocol or VOIP as it is more commonly known. Infoteam, which has previously used Piran Technologies for computer networking and support in the UK, commissioned the company to plan and install an industry-leading CISCO based network in Australia. Piran Technologies incorporated a VOIP phone system allowing for free encrypted phone calls offering a completely secure line for communication between Infoteam offices. Mark Wright, Piran Technologies? Managing Director said: ?We were very excited to be involved in this project to install Infoteam?s VOIP system. We sent one of our trained engineers to Australia to set it up and make sure it was all ready to go. But VOIP isn?t just for companies who need to communicate internationally. VOIP is a way to carry voice conversations over the Internet and has advanced features that give the owner complete control over their phone communications, usually through a web based control panel. Advanced features can include call hunting to allow calls that are unanswered to follow a path to a different phone, simultaneous ringing which allows more than one number to ring when someone calls, caller ID and call forwarding. Piran Technologies has a VOIP system set up in its offices to demonstrate to companies how the system works and to offer them a hands-on experience of the system. The company also visits businesses across the South West to give onsite demonstrations.
