Once Bitten - A tale of adventure and lessons learned

Once Bitten - A tale of adventure and lessons learned Issued:25/02/2008

Businessman and adventure seeking mountaineer Nigel Vardy has just published his first ever book telling the inspiring tale of being stranded high on Mt. McKinley in Alaska, his survival, three-year recovery and some of the life lessons he has learned and put towards life and business.

His story Once Bitten is broken down in to two parts. Part one tells the tale of beginning the climb and getting to the point where he and his two other climbing partners knew they could go no further and had to wait for help.

Their ordeal lasted 24 hours surviving on little food and water and trying to keep their spirits up while always having the fear in the back of their minds that this could be the end.

Once Bitten continues with Nigel's three-year recovery and how he coped with losing his nose, fingers and toes. Like many other climbers and adventure seekers there is always the fear that getting stranded high in the mountains could happen ... for Nigel it did.

Part two of Once Bitten is a section inspiring readers about how to overcome a point in life when they feel they are at rock bottom. Nigel talks about some life lessons he learned and passes them on to readers to use in their personal and business lives.

Nigel said: "I hope this book is an inspiration to every reader. You don't need to be an adventure seeker ... anyone can relate to my experiences if they have ever had a low point in their life where they felt they might not survive emotionally. It was a long recovery, mentally and physically, but I made it through which is why the second part of my book is more inspirational and gives some of the life lessons I have learned from my survival."

Nigel gives very straightforward and honest advice on how people can deal with situations that leave them feeling down and out.

Nigel continued, "When someone wants something they can go for convenience or work hard and get a different and more meaningful result. I hope I've conveyed that in business, as well as mountaineering, working hard for the goal you want is only achieved by pressing on and not giving up."

Nigel has over 15 years of climbing experience and was the first Briton to climb the highest peaks on the world's seven largest islands. His story has been featured on the Channel 4 series ALIVE.

Nigel worked in the electrical distribution industry for 20 years and owns his company called Into Thin Air Productions. He is also a motivational speaker and gives talks all over the country.

Once Bitten is now available from www.ecademy-press.com or from www.amazon.co.uk for ??9.99.
