A Cornish design company has developed a mouth-watering marketing tool helped by business people with a sweet tooth from across the county.

Graphic design and cake-making guru Sarah Talbot who owns DesignStudio has become renowned for taking freshly baked cakes along to client meetings.

She has now combined her clients? favourite recipes into a glossy 32-page cookbook that will be handed out to would-be clients as the company?s new brochure.

Sarah wanted to make DesignStudio stand out among its competitors and so started going to meetings equipped with the client?s favourite biscuits.

She soon switched from biscuits to homemade cakes following their popularity among business people at a local trade fair.

Sarah said: ?I decided to make some fairy cakes for the show and they were such a hit I decided to combine my passion for baking with my passion for design. I doubt many companies provide a cookbook as their company brochure!?

The recipe book, called ?Everything Stops for Tea?, is a collection of her clients? and some of her own favourite recipes. Each recipe has a story behind it with some passed from generation to generation while others are completely original.

The 32-page vibrantly coloured book is filled with quotes from clients about Sarah?s design work and summary of each company themselves.

Michael Cooper of Richfords Fire and Flood said, ?Our work involves clearing up after major incidents, so to have meetings where we know there?ll be cake and a sense of fun is much-needed light relief. We?ve been delighted with the work DesignStudio has carried out, and we?ve been delighted to contribute our recipe for white chocolate fairy cakes to this unique book.?

The book will be handed out to free of charge to customers and potential clients, and Sarah plans to run a quarterly tea party for business contacts in the county.

Sarah continued: "The book is dedicated to all the staff at the Phoenix Ward at Treliske Hospital and of course huge thanks are due to my clients and contacts in Cornwall?s business community for their contributions. Whether you?re a cake fan, or a fan of great design, it's well worth picking up a copy."

DesignStudio has worked with clients in a range of industries including the environmental, education, media, accountancy and public sector.

Copy of the cookbook are available by calling DesignStudio on 01209 832260 or emailing info(at)designstudio-sw.co.uk.
