bott to improve safety and comfort in new Vauxhall van fleet
Award-winning vehicle enhancement specialists bott has won a contract to modify more than 500 Vauxhall vans and prepare them for service with one of the UK’s biggest home delivery companies. The contract includes a number of improvements to driver safety and comfort, alongside work to protect parcels and improve the speed and efficiency of deliveries. bott is carrying out the work at the company’s new facility at Bude in Cornwall, Cumbernauld in Scotland and at the company’s in-vehicle headquarters in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire. The contract covers Home Delivery Network Limited (HDNL)’s fleet of Vauxhall Movano 2.5 CDTi panel vans which are being deployed in the company’s 58 depots nationwide. The enhancements being carried out include the removal of some passenger seats, full floor and wall lining using a combination of 12mm non-slip surfaced ply and weight-saving polypropylene and the installation of cargo tracks to allow items to be secured. The drivers’ and rear doors are being fitted with straps to prevent damage through over-opening, while electrical work includes a 12v light in the rear and reversing sensors. bott is also fitting vehicle decals and in-vehicle signage in line with Home Delivery Network Limited’s requirements. The contract comes just a few months after bott opened a South West vehicle enhancement centre in North Cornwall to offer services to commercial vehicle users in the Westcountry. As well as its in-vehicle work, bott is also renowned across Europe for its range of durable storage equipment including shelving, racking, cupboards, drawer units and workbenches. bott's South West Production Resources Manager, Simon Willshire commented: “Now, with centres in the South West, the Midlands and Scotland we’re better equipped than ever to deliver large, nationwide enhancement projects like this. This contract is a real vote of confidence in our ability to deliver high quality vehicle enhancements at the right price, close to our customers.” bott offers a full range of vehicle enhancements at each of its facilities, including modular and bespoke storage solutions, crew facilities such as seating and mini-kitchens, vehicle graphics and specialist vehicles such as response units for the emergency services. The company recently expanded its facilities with a 260 square metre fitting centre at Bude in North Cornwall, adjacent to the factory which makes much of the in-vehicle equipment for the company’s bases at Ashby and Cumbernauld. The new centre accommodates up to seven 3.5 tonne vehicles simultaneously, with secure parking for fleets of up to 120 vehicles. Simon Willshire continued: “We’re delighted to play our part in ensuring that Home Delivery Network can safely deliver around 300,000 items every single day. Whether it’s one van for an owner-operated business, or a fleet of hundreds, we’re committed to providing a solution which turns a vehicle into an efficient workplace.” For more information in bott’s range of in-vehicle solutions visit www.bottltd.co.uk or call 01288 357788.
